Raku rods
I've recently seen a demonstration using what I was told was a Raku glass rod. Beautiful colors. Do they make such a rod for soft glass? The glass store I go to says they don't have such a thing. I'm not finding it anywhere online under this name. Is it under a different name? I'm using a hot head torch.
Also, what is the name for this kind of frit for soft glass... I've used Iris Orange - is this the same?

Yes yes and yes. Raku is sort of the pet name for Reichenbach 108, sometimes referred to as Iris Orange. It comes in all sizes and rods.

Probably lots of places. The manufacturer is Reichenbach, and Olympic Color Rods carries the whole range http://www.glasscolor.com/lampworking/default.aspx, Jodelglass.com carries some, I think Arrowsprings.com might also. But many places that don't carry Reichenbach will carry the Iris Orange.

If you order it from glasscolor.com, make sure you get the cane. Their rod is HUGE. It's cheap by the kilo, just don't order the wrong thing. It's definitely the CANE you want.
