Default Anyone used the dichroic extracts in their beads?

I was looking at an email from Sunshine Glassworks. This product has no Coe. It sounds like it would be good to try.

I've been using them. They're like finely ground dichro glitter! The hard part is getting it to stick to the glass. They don't burn or scum as easily as dichro on glass though.

These were done with some:

Tell us more, please! That stuff is expensive, so I would really like more info before I even think about buying some.

I have been using it in my hand painted beads. Here is a peacock style using it, I love because I could get the fine detail with it. It is really spendy though.

The stuff is awesome. If you mix it with just a small amount of water, you can use it as a paste. Great for fusing. Then when the water dries (in the cup) you can pour the dichroic back into a jar. No waste!!! I've seen people use it on glass that has like a fireworks design and they put in different colors. Then top it with another layer and add a 3D effect to it. It's pretty awesome!!!

Does it not even stick when the glass base is really hot? How did you finally work it out? I'd really love to know.

Angie, I found the glass had to be really hot to get it to stick - and then I had to try to get the excess off. You really only need a small amount, and having too much is just going to make encasing a real pain. I used a very thin layer, and kind of burnished it to the glass against the graphite marver before encasing.

Still experimenting with it myself!

Aimee...which color did you use in these beads? The cyan?

I got the Rainbow set - unfortunately they aren't labeled but this was the greenest of them. The variations are more subtle than with the solid color set.

Sorry, I don't check in everyday. I think the firework beads were mine too. I did some for 4th of July. I haven't tried it with surface applications for painting. But I use squeegee oil and dichro mixed to paint with on sheet and then apply it to a bead.

I bought some finally, I'm pouting. I tried to make stringer, rolled a gather in the powder, encased and pulled. When I try to use it in the flame it just crackles and splinters like crazy. I wonder if I should kiln the stringers?

Aimee's beads are gorgeous but I'd really like to use this for stringers and dots.

And holy at the amount it's literally like a pinch of salt, so I really don't want to waste any. Since it comes in a lilliput like bottle, any ideas on something I could store it in and use to roll the bead/glass in? I put a little bit on a marver and literally wanted to gag at how much was wasted I couldn't get off and back in the jar....which wasn't much but @ this price...

Oh and, does anybody know the difference? Looking at this pic again, the stuff on the left looks more flaky and cooler than what I have which is a fine powder. http://aampaproduct421.corecommerce....f-EXTRACT.html
