Default Help Please

Hi Everyone,

I am obsessing and need your help. I have spent so many hours (stopped counting by now) searching for instructional videos or tutorials on how to make some of the amazing marbles many have made and can't seem to find detailed written tutorials or even videos to purchase. There are some amazing artist that are posting their work in the Marble and Boro rooms but I can't find any tuts you've written or videos you've done.....Can some one please direct me? I am not sure if there is another site that would give more instruction in vortex, compression, implosion, anything!!!

If there are other sites that Marble artist enjoy, I would love links to them. Might as well feed my addiction.....

I would truly appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Thanks so much,

Cheryl

Try looking over at the Melting Pot forum. They deal more in marbles and pipes but have lots of info on doing marbles...all types.

If you have watched all of those, it is time to start making marbles instead of watching marbles being made. Not trying to be snarky, but working with molten glass in the context of a marble will teach you how it moves and then you will be able to look at a marble and see how it was made. If you haven't made a marble yet start with a cork screw marble.

Default Someday soon????

Thanks Roy, I agree....I am not able to torch right now......long, health related story. That's the reason I asked for help finding things to watch and purchase.....helps takes my focus off the pain. So it's for selfish reasons I'm asking. I would much rather be behind the torch, but looking at these beauties brings be pleasure!

This is a pretty good paid for video. http://www.dichroicimagery.com/produ...oducts_id=4260

You might be able to ask someone here if they have and are willing to sell at a discount?

Okay, I understand, I hope you are better very soon. I haven't been behind the torch since the end of January because of work. Here is a spider implosion, it is a a pendant but no reason it could not be rounded out to a MIB.

Default Pendants too!!

Thanks again everyone.

Roy, you just made a little light bulb turn on over my head.....can ya see it??.
Pendants, buttons, hearts, technique....you get the picture....It's all good.

I posted some time back for help with my Cheetah torch and really came to appreciate how much the Boro group jumped in and helped out....I followed their advice, have a hungry cheetah, tanked 02, hard glass eye protection, and then disaster....so here I am asking for help again, with everything ready and patiently waiting for me to be able to "light up" my life again.

Thank you all for helping

I second or third Cosmo's marble tuts. Drew Frits has a soft marble book-you can get it from Malcolm at Artco.

Cheryl, your dilemma sounds like me! I found LE in the winter, joined, researched and read everything I could find here. Finally had $$$ in hand ready to buy my equipment when I fell and broke my ankle-like broke ankle requiring surgery and a wheelchair broken ankle. My glass arrived, my torch arrived, my kiln arrived but the hospital got my $$$ for the oxycon. My other half built my bench and when I finally re-saved my oxycon $$$, I still was not allowed to have the leg in an un-elevated position. All I could do was wheel out to the shedio and dream about actually melting glass......hope your health roubles are over soon and you can get to the torch!

You may enjoy the Crystal Myths videos. They have a really good section about marbles in it and lots of demos of working off mandrel. I also recommend Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Glass Bead making by James Kervin and Homer Hoyt's Glassblowing. Some of the exercises in Hoyt's book are invaluable. Try to find it used from a Goodwill. It is coveted (read expen$ive) but worth the effort to seek out and purchase used.

Default Thank you

Thanks Marie, It's tough when your health prevents you from enjoying life. My lungs have actually collapsed eleven times! So painful and scary not being able to catch your breath. I would love to post and find out what others use for respirators or mask that are easy to breathe through, yet protective. I need to be extra cautious, someday........

Thanks for the suggestions. I did purchase the package of three from Cosmo the other day. Wow! If I could do anything close to what he does.....I am going to research the book you mentioned and see if I can find one. Thanks again.

Chad Trent's marble book is fantastic. If you are interested in floral implosions, try http://r4glassstudio.com/
