Default need a wine color

I need a wine color in the moretti or lausha lines. What do you think if I encase violet with light or dark amethyst? Or should I encase some color with 456 gold pink? I need this for tomorrow so any help I could get tonight would be great.

Purple Red and Dark Red Brown (Effetre). Violet encased with any of the Amethysts is just purple. The Vetrofond Rubino is a very dark, wine color also.

Moretti 452 Dark Red Brown - some batches are a good wine red. I have two lots of 452, one is a good wine red the other is more brown.

I don't have any dark red but I do have dark red brown, it looks almost black when I use it. Should I mix it with something else?

On the dark red brown, does it still look black when it's completely cooled? Mine comes back to the wine red when it's cooled. It's still black when I put it in the kiln, but returns to the wine red when the kiln cools.

my mistake, I have dark brown, not dark RED brown. Dark brown looks almost black to me after it cools. Do I have anything that can make a wine color? What about med red encased with rubino?

You might check out the Layering and Mixing charts here:
http://www.listen-up.org/kitty/beads...r%20chart2.htm

GlassCanyon got a burgundy with 042 Med. Purple over 438 Purple Red
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/show...95&postcount=8

Good Luck! I haven't tried any of these.

Thanks Judy, according to these posts I will be trying periwinkle encased with rubino and coral encased with rubino (since I don't have purple red). I hope they work. I HATE HATE HATE custom orders. Why can't people just like the stuff I KNOW how to do? I know, it's to stretch me, make me grow in my glass abilities. Otherwise, I would NEVER try to come up with a wine color on my own!!!

Good heavens. What sort of custom order requires a 1 day turn around...AND for something you don't know how to do? That's crazy.

I would try amethyst over red (the darker the amethyst the lighter the red can go. Or color mix your red with a touch of brown and a touch of orange and then case it in amethyst.

Good luck.

Creation is Messy. That's the name of the glass company. It's 104 glass. They make the rose quartz pink and the Gelly pink.

It's not a one day turn-around. I've known for about 3 weeks but Monday will be the first day I'll have an oppurtunity to work on it. It is for Christmas and I need to ship it to Conn from GA, so I need to get the beads done so I can get the jewelry done and allow for slower shipping due to the holidays. I know I should have been working on this before now, but I have a salon to run during the day (busy time of year also) and I had my first show to do the Sunday before Thanksgiving, so I was working my butt off for that. I have another show this Sat. but I think I'm ready for that, so now I can concentrate on this order. I should have thought ahead of time and ordered a wine color already made. Who knew this would be so complicated? I'm trying not to stress out........

Ahh, that makes more sense, it's more of a self imposed thing. No point stressing, just do the best you can, I'm sure your results will be lovely.
