Default ***Glass rod Storage???

What should I use to store my glass rods? When I look through studio pictures I see so many different setups. I am looking for a secure way to store my rods. I like this one

http://www.lampworketc.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=102670

can anyone tell me what these are? and where to get them?

Thanks, Michelle

this is what I use

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...01S&lpage=none

it is similar to what you see in the link you posted (which is vinyl fence pickets, it appears)

the link I posted is vinyl fence rail that is internally divided into 3 even sections when you cut it across the railing.

That is fence railing that is cut into sections. It is sold by home depot or lowes. It measures 6" x 2" and has the interior sectioned into three sections. Each section can hold a couple of lbs. I think it runs about $10/8ft section. If you can find it, its fantastic.

Not sure where you are, but I've found that the fence posts harder to find in major cities. You can have them ordered, if you're insistent.

If you call Lowes out in Corona, Riverside, San Bernardino, Redlands or Murrietta
you are likely to find them in the garden Dept.
I found mine at the Redlands store.
It's the more rural areas (horse country)that usually have this in stock FWIW.

I got mine at Lowes for about $10 per rail. I had a neighbor cut them for me (we don't have those kind of tools here).

I also have the acrylic storage thingies that someone was making a while ago. I don't know if he still makes them, but I can't honestly recommend him as a source ... it took nearly 3 months to get mine, and I've heard it take longer than that for others. They're really nice though - if you can find someone that can make them.

The bottom left rack holds my 104 opaque rods, on the right is the 104 transparents. Above that, you'll see the fence railing that holds all of my "special" glass - odd lots, silver glasses, etc., etc. The green bins hold my shorts (there's one for 104, 90, boro, and 96). And the mugs at the top are holding my sample packs of glass, like bullseye, momkas, northstar, etc., etc.

Hope this helps.

You can also go to a Professional fence installers/wholesaler & buy up their scraps. I paid not more than $8 for a HUGE section, that we cut into 12" sections.

Try to get the fence posts ASAP. Our local Lowes told us they were discontinuing that style. Jim has bought all the 8' sections in our area and is working on the 16' ones now.

I've got fence rail posts and some of the clear acrylic.

My preference is the clear acrylic but I do not have a source. I do not suggest the one that was used. He was supposedly in a car accident, changed buildings, changed staff and I forget what else. Long story short I ordered 3 other style boxes 2 years ago and don't have them. (No money exchanged.) At the time George was the only person I could find who would consider a custom order of any size.

Boxergirl located the fence posts in NE Indiana (a couple years ago) at Meinards. I think she said they were indoors. I've never found any at speciality places or box stores.

We couldn't find fence railings . So we used the rain gutter that runs down the side of a house . My hubby cut it and we used it. It works fine for me.
Hope this idea helps .
Janet

I meant to say I use downspout gutter stuff. Holds alot of glass.
