Don't roll your glass in the booklet of silver leaf. Cut your piece and remove it from the booklet to some other, preferably non flammable, surface.
If you find a small bit of flaked bead release on the bead you are working on, do not remove it with your sleeve.

this one is a good one! When I first started to torch everyone talked about silver foil!!!! I had a whole roll of aluminum foil
You guessed it! Do not use aluminum foil on your beads!!

If you are putting silver or gold onto the tip of a rod for fuming and it falls off when you put it back into the flame, DO NOT reach down directly in front of the torch to retrieve the piece that drops off, UNLESS your rod is considerably longer that the distance from your work surface and your torch tip. Fingers against the tip of a torch will put out your flame. You will only make this mistake once.

Do not use a book of silver foil/leaf as a coaster.
At least not if you want to actually use the silver leaf.

That rod that for some reason broke off an inch fron the molten end while you were making a goddess is HOT. The rod shocked and broke off while I was in the middle of doing a goddes; working on a tricky part. No worries, just pull off the broken rod with my fingers...I had indentations burnt into my fingers that stayed for weeks. I now leave tweezers sitting by my torch.
