fiber blanket sticking to beads?
Ok - Please no laughing!!
I finally fired up my torch for the first time today. I put my completed beads into the fiber blanket and some of the fibers were sticking to my beads!!! I'm not expecting greatness since these are my first beads (since my one and only class 2 years ago.), but still..are they ruined? I just made them about 20 minutes ago and am trying hard not to peek. Help!!

Well, it depends on how hot your bead was and how bad it stuck to the bead. Your bead was probably too hot which is why the fiber stuck to it. Sometimes it will come off pretty easy without leaving an imprint. If it's really stuck on there, you can still probably get it off, but it might leave an imprint.

Just a reminder when using a fiber blanket - don't put your beads to bed while they are still hot hot hot. When you are finished with a bead, take it out of the flame, keep it spinning, and hold it under your bench and look to see if it is still glowing red. Wait for the red glow to fade and then put it right in your blanket the moment it does.

I heard somewhere that if you have fibre marks on your beads that you can etch them and it will go away. Oh, besides making sure that they arn't glowing red don't pat them after you "put them to bed"...The easiest way to not peek is to go right away for at least an hour.

I "tink" my beads on the table leg (gently!)--it's metal--to make sure they're firm enough/cool enough to go in the blanket...if they "tink", they're ready...if they "squish", they're still too hot (actually, I really did do this for a long time--still do it with the first few PPP beads I make @ home when I'm shoving them into vermiculite or a blanket, as I end up with squashie things otherwise )
