How to remove silver on sides of drk sky blue bead
Besides etching it, does anyone know how to get that silver tinge off the sides of a large bead made with dark sky blue? It's only on the sides near the holes and I'd like to avoid etching it... I'm not even sure if that would remove it. I lowered the propane when making it. Any ideas how to avoid it would be appreciated too. Thanks

You can dip it in etching solution without giving it an etched look and it'll come right off. Just a quick dip and rinse. This also works on copper green, turquoise and violet.

Yeah, just a quick dip in etching solution, or rust remover with a q-tip will get it right off of there. I've also heard of people leaving it in coke overnight, but I've never tried that.

I have used the coke-overnight soak and it works well.
(Of course it does make one wonder what coke does to our stomachs...LOL!)

Coke never works for me, but toliet bowl cleaner is a god-send. Especially with turqouise--any bead I make that has turqouise in it gets a swim in toliet bowl cleaner for a couple minutes and the turqouise is bright and clear.

I LOVE Toilet bowl cleaner! I keep some in a little frit container (and I keep Tarnex in another one!!) in the bathroom, with the covers on them--& a pair of pliers & a mandrel nearby for fishing things out--and some Q-tips--beads & findings that need "trips through for touch ups" have a quick trip in & a shake, or an overnight soak (for the beads) or a touch up with a Q-tip (if it's a clasp on a pearl necklace that needs tarn-x, or one spot on a bead that needs toilet bowl cleaner!) & then a Quick rinse with HOT water in the sink with the screen over the drain, nice fluffy towl & it's all done!! Anything that soaks overnight gets fished out before I go to work the next day!
Quick & easy!

Drinks with carbonation are slightly acidic. Our stomach is much more acidic than anything we put in them.
