I have a large (I think size "H", is about 9-10" x ~50" H) tank and it costs me ~ $28.00 to refill. Of course the initial outlay for the tank was over $200.00.
This is in the Dallas, TX area.

It varies a lot around the country. I'm paying around $35 for K-tanks, but this includes the O2, taxes, hazmat fees, delivery, fuel surcharges, etc. It also changes locally over time, but I'd say that this is my average.

I lease four tanks at $40 a year each. I probably only need two, but it is 20 miles to where I exchange them so I try wait till I have three empties.
Refils are $15 if I get 250cf tanks or $16 for 300cf tanks. This is the the Fort Worth Texas area.

I got a lucky break in the LA area. I was supposted to pay a demurrage charge of $20/month for my K-cylinder. For years, they only charged me $21 any time I came in to refill, and 'forgave' me the monthly cylinder rental. Their re-fill prices went up to $35 just before I moved, but they still didn't charge me rental. Because of city ordinances, they couldn't deliver to my house, however. Might have been part of why I got a break, but they've always been wonderful to me regardless.
I can get tanks delivered to my new place in New Mexico. Found an equally great welding supply shop. They recommended a much larger tank for me, equivalent capacity to 10 or more K-cylinders for $65/month rental and something like $35 to deliver. I forget what the filling charge is, but seemed equally reasonable.
I agree, it must vary from one location to another. I'd bet, though, that if I'd gone to different places, I might not have gotten as good a deal.

Is that all??? I borrowed my husbands o2 tank the other day and wow it was fun!! It was so quiet with no compressors running and I was melting glass like crazy!!! til I ran out. It had been out in the barn forever and he uses it as a cutting torch maybe once a year, and has never had to refill it. He said o2 was real expensive and I was thinking a refill would be around $75 or more. Now I can't wait to get it refilled to see how much it is!! I'm so glad I saw this post!! thanks!! I'm nw of Ft Worth!

We use Schad & Pulte Welding Supply in Gainsville, There number is (940) 668-8281. They have a number of pickup points. We use the one in Keller on 377. They are getting a number of glass people so are used to dealing with weird people who use tons of oxygen which is some thing that Airgas never could understand. Airgas wanted $30 to refill my little 120cf tank.

The O2 cost here is actually around $20, it's all of the other stuff that kicks the cost up. the gas cost isn't much differnt from the 150 cfu tanks that I used to use, they tell me that buying in bulk is cheaper so my costs didn't go up a lot when I went to bigger tanks. My rental is about $5/month for the K-tanks, I paid up a year in advance.

I used to get my propane from Airgas and they're expensive and they always looked at me like I'm some kind of freak!!! What's a "woman" need with propane?? lol
So I'm going to assume since you rent your tank from them, you just call and they bring you another one right?? what if you have your own tank, does it take long to fill it? do you have to leave it and come back the next day to pick it up??

my oxygen tank- i think is abut 4 ft tall- don't know exactly what size- is delivered and refilled when I need it for about $30.00 and then I pay a $5 rental charge on the months I haven't needed a refill. I am very appreciative of having the company hook-up my hose/regulator when they change the tank- I never actually have to handle or move my tank other than to check the connections and turn it on and off-

Wow Margaret. That is nice of them to hook up the connections! They used to do that around here but stopped because of liability fears.
Jim if you are going to use 5 or more K tanks a month of high pressure oxy you might want to look at LOX.

I also had a similar experience, but thankfully I found a similar alternative where I moved.
