Default Kiln paper burning in kiln

I'm trying to slump some broken beads and the "liner fusing release paper" I'm using is turning black and smoking in the kiln at about 600 degrees.
Anyone have an idea what might be going wrong?
Thanks!

That is normal. It can turn dark as it heats up. Shouldn't be a problem. Hmmm....how do you know it's burning? Unless you are using a window to see into the kiln it should not be opened until after it passes 1000 degrees. Then you can peak

I could smell it and see it turning black from underneath. I've never used it before so I didn't know if it was normal or not, but if you say it's normal, I'll take your word for it! I aborted the operation and figured I'd start again.

Just restart. No need to change the paper. It's perfectly normal.

It's just the binder burning off... usually smells a bit like burnt sugar.

I love that smell, reminds me of Hawaii and burning sugar cane.

I don't think burning it off is necessary with thin shelf paper like thinfire. Heck, I rarely even burn off thick paper first. Never found it necessary-though it is often stated that it is necessary.

Yeah-it does smell like sugar burning

Yes it can - I vent up until about 700 degrees to help avoid this.
