Default Need help in setting up a studio...

Okay, I moved into a new place and thought I had a studio space all arranged... However, I found out today that the specs weren't quite up to what I was informed.

I get the furnace room which has a small opening in the wall for my propane hose to come in from outside. There was supposed to be a six inch opening for an outtake vent, but that has since been sealed up by the guys who put in the new furnace yesterday (the landlord neglected to inform them to leave it, so they sealed it to help with energy conservation).

There is a door to outside right beside the room, but once the snow starts flying I wont' be able to leave it open. I have no other options, I MUST have a studio space. Can someone PLEASE help me design something that works with what I have available to me while being as safe as possible.

Update: I took some photos...

Can you get permission from the landlord to re-open the vent opening? Are there any windows? Any chance that door has a glass pane that could be removed?

Nope, they completely sealed it and it looks like it would take the same effort to just punch a whole new hole through the foundation to get it open again.

There are no windows, and the door to outside is a metal security door.

Umm. A hole in the ceiling? It's gotta go somewhere. Are the walls cement?

The outside wall is cement... then clockwise from there is a rented bedroom, a common area, then the backdoor hallway. Above the room is partially the kitchen and the upstairs bathroom.

I wish I could be of help but I looked at your pictures and I cannot think of anything at all. I'm sorry.

I think you space is too small and has to many problems...

One good thing in all this it appears your "new" furnace is a seal system burner so that takes it out of the equation for figuring ventilation.....

When you figure ventilation you also have to consider water heater in to the mix... It will require you to provide more make up air than torch ventilation (out take) tries to pull from studio. IF you back draft the flue on water heater you cause the very problem you are trying to avoid with studio ventilation...
