Unencased Gold Fuming Durability?
I wanted to experiment with some heavy gold fuming the other day (I am still pretty new to lampworking so i play a lot to see what does what) and i made the pendant pictured below, this is just a normal clear maria with a design drawn in clear that has been heavily gold fumed. My question is as I did not encase this after fuming it in any way will the gold fuming wear off over time? I like the way this turned out and want to develop it more as part of my style but I want my pieces to last as well, which if the fuming will disappear as it is worn may add interest to this particular piece but for future pieces I want to know for certain.
Thanks in advance

i made a lightly fumed bead into a bracelet for my mum, she wears it all the time and the gold is still good

I have had mixed experiences with gold fuming. Sometimes it lasts and sometimes it rubs off. Most of the time it holds up pretty well. Some say that using 22k instead of 24karat gold makes a difference , but the color is not quite the same. Encasing it changes the look. You lose the shinny gold. Sometimes you can get beautiful results from encasing, but it's different.
Your pendant is pretty. Just keep experimenting, be careful venting your fumes.
