Hrm...

I never had it happen before, so it's a totally new thing to me.

The propane is brand new. Just picked up the tank the day before yesterday. Last night was my first time using this tank.
And you didn't have this problem before this tank?

wasn't getting very long candles out of my torch when I tried to set it at a neutral flame.
It seems like my flame was very 'small' if that makes sense.
Sure does. What size candle exactly?

Before this tank, I was set up in Iowa (sold the tank in Iowa so I wouldn't have to travel with one). I put things away for 6 months and recently dug them out and have been moved to Utah. This is what makes me think the oxycon might be acting up. Or might not have warmed up enough.

Candles maybe...1/2"? Possibly a tad longer. Monster long when it went to the reducing flame...center candle well over an 1". I'm prettybad about guessing lengths, and was tempted to grab a ruler and measure those candles, but they were well under 1" when it was at what looked like a neutral flame. Burned the crap out of the glass I was using.

you say this problem started the first time you worked in the new shop? maybe something got bumped inside the concentrator when you moved it. check your lines too, are they clear, are they 12 feet or shorter? i had an airsep newlife die on me , it was the compressor. how many hours on yours?

I'm wondering if something didn't happen to the oxycon. It has less than 50,000 hours on it. I've put maybe....15 hours on it altogether. Just getting into torching really. I bought it less than 2 years ago but just haven't used it too much.

I tried again today and let it run quite a while before I lit the torch up. It seemed to do better. I only made some twisties and stringer but it seemed to be melting faster than the first time I used it at the new place and it only fluctuated once. I didnt' work very long...about 30 minutes, maybe 45, like the last time I was at the torch.

I'm wondering if I didn't let it warm up enough the first time since things seemed to do better this time. I didn't have the kiln fired up so I didn't make any beads, but melting the glass for the stringers seemed to go smoothly.

I am looking into getting 2 refurbed oxycons (devilbiss) to connect together to get more oxy available for the torch. Then I won't know what to do with the one I have. My other option is to get an Invacare to connect to this one, but if this one needs work soon (possible) I'm torn between being down while it gets fixed or just get the 2 refurbed ones and rock on with my bad self.

Decisions....decisions.
