eye strain
I've noticed in the last couple of months that my eyes seem a little overwhelmed after even a short (~1hr) torchfest.
I'm using 104 glass with Didymium glasses I got from Devardi about a year and a half ago.
Do diddys wear out? Are Devardis poor quality? Am I just getting old? Nah, must be the glasses...
I've got an eye appointment next week, is there something I should be asking my doctor?

There are a few things that can be going on.
You could have dry eye from forgetting to blink, or working in the dry heat.
Much like people forgetting to breath when they concentrate.
your eyes may be changing, cling magnifiers can help.
Sort of like stick-on readers. Amazon has them.
The eye dr may have other suggestions, you may have to educate the dr a little on what your dealing with.
The glasses may also be dirty or have minor scratches that are causing problems.

Thanks!
I have the stick-on lenses, at the same strength as the readers I usually wear.
The glasses seem clean, maybe I should make sure, and check better for scratches.
Dry heat, what's that? It's always humid here.
I could set a timer to remind me to blink...

Are your Devardi Didymiums really glass or are they plastic lenses?

I have sensitive eyes. I lampwork only every other day, if that. I use AuraLens spectacles (no longer made) PLUS a bench-mounted shield. During my annual eye exam I remind the doc of my lampworking hobby and ask him to look for anything that might be caused by the heat from the torch or the flare of the glass. So far, his only advice is to use lubricating eye drops before and after torching; my eyes themselves are OK. I bet you will only need to use drops to ease your eyes, but be sure to ask your doc to look.
Good luck!
