Default Help with set-up of oxycon, propane with minor torch

Help! I have my husband setting things up and he is flummoxed. Questions:
1. The oxycon doesn't need a regulator, right? So how does the oxy hose connect to the oxycon?
2. Does the propane need to run through the regulator before it gets to the torch, and if so, how do the parts connect?

I hope these questions make sense!
Stephanie

There is no requirement for a regulator for oxycon, oxycons generally put oxygen out at about 7-9 psi... Connection is typical like graphic below...

.

IF there is plastic adapter ( like graphic below or in frame 1 above) on oxycon it can be removed....

Yes you do need regulator for propane as tank pressures (in full tank) are around 125 psi which is way to high and dangerous for direct connection.... Typical most lampworkers use a welding style regulator for "acetylene" for their propane.... No it is not a misprint, it is ( the acetylene regulator) the commonly accepted regulator for propane... And it should run at about 2-4 psi...

Propane (acetylene) regulator will look similar to graphic below, and connector (CGA 510 style) on right side connects directly to propane tank and connector on lower left side hooks directly to welding style hose...

A little side note is most fuel hoses and connections at tank, torches and regulators have counter clockwise (left hand ) threads if they are standard welding "connections", they are also designated by groove in "hex" portion where one uses a wrench to tighten connection ....

Thanks for asking the question, Stephanie, and thanks for the pics and explanation, Dale - exactly what I also wanted to know, having just bought a second hand oxycon today!
