Compression Gloves

Has anyone tried compression gloves for arthritis at the torch? I could use them but can't figure out how to keep from setting them on fire

I could cut the fingers off lower as much of my problems are from the knuckles back but still not sure if it works and I hate to cut a pair and then find them still getting hot. I especially need one for my right dominate hand. I could get by without one for my left, plus it would probably be hard to hold the mandrel. Of course it may be hard to hold the glass with a glove on also!

I don't want to buy a spinner as most of my problems are with my right hand.

have you tried the ones called I think, handeze? still not fireproof but, fingerless

I also came across one knitter who had made her own pair with a stretch cotton...no pattern though

I have a few pairs of these that I love (Amazon)

and a pair of Isotoners that I don't love as much because they're a little big on me.

I have not used either pair for torching, but I honestly haven't burned my hands yet (8 years and counting). When my arthritis is bad I just don't torch, but if you can handle it, I'd throw on a pair and try it! Fingerless for sure.

Thanks for the info, peeps! I'm off to Amazon to look for gray gloves. I just hope I don't catch one on fire because I imagine it would be hard to get off quickly.

Are any of you taking tumeric for arthritis?
It really helps inflammation.
It thins blood so you have too ask your doctor if there are any drug interactions
and Google it, but it helps me a lot with inflammation from CRPS/RSD.
Costco has some good combos, one with black pepper which is said
to be an excellent catalyst for the tumeric.

I hadn't heard about using that. Not sure it would work well with ibuprofen and Aleve.

I had heard a little research about tumeric helping with insulin resistance as well.
Small study, overseas in India and had not been looked into much in the west.

Another thought if I may. The CarbonX Carbon Fiber Knit FR Gloves claim "CarbonX fire gloves are the only fabric gloves able to withstand the direct flame of a blow torch without melting, igniting, or burning—even when exposed to the flame for up to 20 times longer than the leading competition." Maybe a pair of those with the fingers cut a little longer than the compression gloves might do the trick? They are around $20.

Allie, I'll look them up. I'd love to find something with some fire resistance plus compression. Maybe they would work.

Sorry; I just reread what I wrote. They aren't compression gloves, but I thought wearing them over the compression gloves would give you the best of both worlds!

Make sure to keep a big enough water jug on the bench to fi5 your hand in just in case.

You bet! I'm still trying to decide if it's worth it to get gloves much less use them inches from an 1800 degree flame!
