BE Gold Purple
Made some beads last night, encased in BE Clear.
Shattered glass this morning
Does the Gold Purple not like being encased? Help please.

When I have BE casing issues here is what I do:
1. Leave a "belly button", that is to not case all the way to the mandrel but leave some of the underneath glass showing around the mandrel. This allows for more expansion/contraction without breaking.
2. I put it away hotter than 104, immediately after the bright glow fades but the glow is not all gone.
3. I also garage at 980 instead of 940.
Those 3 things have improved the survival rate considerably for me. If I forget, the cracks beads remind me to pay attention again. This also happens when casing neo-lav over rose colors.
One more thing: if you have "shattered" looking cracks then you have a different COE of clear. If you have pole-to-pole cracks then it's cooling related. I usually get pole-to-pole cracks. BE Gold Purple can be cased and I usually do case it, and that was your original question. I only got the shattered look when I accidentally used Effetre over BE.

It has issues. I have times when I get breakage. It does seem to depend on the batch. If you are using it as strictly the base, I have better luck using as little as possible (same goes for Pink). I really don't have any answers other than that.

That one is harder to encase for me also, even with a clear underlayer.

Since I am primarilly a fuser, I use Bullseye's schedule of 900 as the annealing point for my glass beads. Am I incorrect and should be using 960 to 980 instead?
Another thing anyone can do and it should be more successful is to cut very thin strips of the color you need from sheet glass. They guarantee that their glasses are compatible - over, under, sandwiched, etc.
