I made one of these last week, but I left the bottom on. I used a sheet of vellum. It works really well on beads, but I am still stumped on taking pics of jewelry. I didn't want to use a neck stand, but to lay the stuff flat and photograph it from above. The light box doesn't work for that so I just set up the same lights and snapped away. I looked at the site of Amy O'Connell Jewelry, but I don't have the room for something like that unless I put it in my dining room! She has some interesting ideas on taking pics of jewelry. But, the strobist lightbox was cheap, cheap, cheap.
