dumb question
I see a lot of glass supply places that sell accugrind joints, or ground joints. so i'm just wondering... what are they? how do you use them and what are they for? (i'm guessing maybe they're for those complicated looking things people smoke hash oil with?)

Fire warped glass, it's not a dumb question. Groind glass joints originated in the field of scientific glass for connecting glass pieces together with a leak proof seal. This could be a ground stopper or a joint in a bubbler etc. You are correct that for the most part the ground joints you see advertised are for making the down stem and bowl parts for a variety of bubbler pipes.

You can also use them to make nice tops for bottles.

Does anyone know how they do the perfume bottles? Does someone sell a machine to make the really little ones male & female; 5-8mm? You never see them that small. I would think you would need some sort of tool to match up bottle to stopper.

Thanks for the explanation, Otter.
I'd like to learn how to make those bubblers but they look pretty complicated.

KA, I don't know if he ever got them into any of the distributors, but I use one of these: http://fyrsmith.blogspot.com/2009/02...-for-boro.html
He used to be on here pretty frequently, but I haven't seen him in a while. You might get in touch and see if he's still selling them or not.
Edit: He's got one up on his Artfire account. The fan looking bit in the back is for necking the bottle. You eyeball on the reamer where the neck opening is and then match up which of the tapered holes in the block you need to make the correct sized stopper.

KA, the 10mm ground joints are tiny and would be a perfect size for small bottles, its smaller than the tip of your pinky and only 7-8mm at the smallest part of it

I will keep that in mind. For bigger bottles. Thanks.
