Why do I get browing tones is it the graphite marver?

I have just finished roughly six hours my first silver glass of using D Helix.
I tried Clio and Triton sometimes I get brown like burns.
Is this from the graphite marvers?
Anyway to avoid this and still use graphite marvers?
Is the marver getting to hot then I see browning in the silver glass?

Back to trying again this morning. Wife likes my beads but I'm not a happy camper.

I use graphite marvers & don't get brown. It might be too much propane from over reducing the glass. Did you encase?

I haven't worked with Clio so I can't help there, but I do know Triton can over-reduce quite easily like Vivian suggested.

I think Clio is a striking glass so if you find brown spots its quite possible it's ready to strike again. With striking glasses the way you work them is to heat them well then let them cool, and you'll see a bloom of brown or amber. This is the silver rising to the surface. When you see this you can re-introduce the bead to the flame and you hopefully will start to see some colour.

I did look at your pics and I'm not sure what's happening. I would suggest not marvering Triton; just make your bead, gently reduce it and pop it in the kiln. Try a few like that, without marvering, and see if that makes a difference.

I'm not seeing any pictures, but Angie has it spot-on.

From your description it sounds like you are doing everything right--you are just quitting a step or two too early.

The brown is what you want---then strike it again and it will turn purples, blues and greens depending on the glass and your flame.

I work raku ( r108 ) the same way---heat it hard and cool it on a marver to get the brown, then restrike it to get colors.

Well the ones over reduced are the Tan tones.

Messing with some other colors and with using Aion, and other DH colors.

Its coming along fine lady next store likes the beads especially in the sun.

I would have posted pics in here Photobucket was down for site work.
So I put them in my album couldn't load it in this thread.
Back to work I will use Silver Glass for now on with my other colors have Raku
coming soon.

If your Clio has brown spots it sounds like you are reducing it too heavily. I just wave it in a very slightly reducing flame before I encase it. Try backing off the propane a bit and see if that helps.
