Default Stringer Tuts

After a break from my torch I'm determined to learn how to control my stringer. I would like to know what tuts helped you or if you have any to suggest for those that already have what I consider a blessed with the gift of stringer control.
Thank you!

That is a great video that Inez mentione., There is also a short, free tutorial on Corina's site that explains a lot.

The best thing is always the three P's.

Once you have watched a video or taken a class just having some nice long practice sessions will be the best way to perfecting those stringers. You may struggle for awhile but practice does make perfect.

I've actually started and stopped a stringer tutorial a few times this year, but I'm always nervous there isn't enough demand or interest.

Pulling isn't my problem, it's applying it. I've been reading and looking at the suggested links and they've been so great. I even ordered the suggested video. Hopefully I will get to the point where my stringer application doesn't look like I'm scribbling. LoL.

All the tuts are great, but you also have to put the time in at the torch to really make it work. I have not done that myself, so despite a lot of reading and watching, I have a ways to go to translate the designs in my head into beads. But everybody that is excellent at stringer work does two things:
1. Practice and fail
2. Practice more and succeed

The only thing that keeps me going is looking at where some people started, and where they are now.

PPP - sorry! Pull stringers of a nice stiff colour, pull different thicknesses and lengths. Make a simple base bead in the same colour, a simple round bead or a squished bead for more surface area. Use your stingers to doodle on your bead and when you make a mistake, just melt it in and start again. Use different hand placements, steadying techniques, distance from flame, size of flame etc until you find what works for you. Have fun, but practice will get you there eventually.
Some people are never wonderful at stringer control, but are good at other techniques. Some top names are rubbish at fine control but great with organics, others can only make very precise beads with dots and lines. Obviously its better to master as many techniques as you can as it opens more doors for future designs but remember, nobody is forcing you - just do what you enjoy.
