Default Coiled Wire End Caps

I can never find end caps to fit my viking knit chain. I'm sure I'm not the only one to think about using wire to make end caps. I tried to make the process replicable and easy, so this is what I came up with.

Thanks Mina!! I think I will soon be haunting Garbage sales/ junk shops for knitting needles and putting your technique to use. Your pictures are a great help.

Sweet! Thank you Mina! I have a ton of old needles too! I may never use this (not much of a finisher ... hee hee!) but this is an ingenious way to upcycle too!

Thank you. I too have extra knitting needles around from my failed "teach yourself to knit" project.

Norma, thanks for sharing. I'm learning to crochet wire and beads and this will be a big help in making the end caps for my pieces. Lydia

Norma, this is great! It is hard to find end caps for viking knit and these are just right. Thank you for sharing.

Here's the pdf for those of you that can't open the Word document. If Mina doesn't want this here, she can let me know and I'll delete it but since it's in the free tutorials section I figured it would be alright. Coiled End Cap Tut..pdf

there is also a wonderful new tool called Contastic that was created by Sandra Lupo that makes cone end caps and hourglass shapes it is a fantastic and easy way to add some interest and end to our creations she will be teaching 2 classes at the Gathering and you can see it on you tube or her web site

Someone suggested using a cake decorator's icing tip for shaping a cone, but they're too fat for what I do.

Yes Debi, you're right, there are some cool tools out there for this sort of end cap and lots of ways to actually wire wrap an end cap but there's always room for innovations. Hats off to Mina for this. This will work nice for any application needing an end cap.
