Question on grinding/polishing
I'm working my way through old threads and came across this one
http://lampworketc.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=133 (Lovely pendants, Eric!)
Is there any reason that you couldn't, after the initial grinding/cutting process, reheat the piece in the kiln, and flame polish it?
Just wondering since boro is so friendly to being worked multiple times if flame polishing the face might not be a quicker answer to the polishing steps.

I don't know, to be honest, but I'd think it would bubble as would a scratched rod, and wouldn't give you a nice polished finish. I'm curious to see what other say.

You can't flame polish borosilicate very easily. It will devitrify.

Maybe I'm a little off on this, but I was taught that I could flame polish boro but I had to grind it to 600grit smoothness first before I did... Think that is from Advanced Flameworking Volume 1... And I have triend it and it did work ok, it just makes the edges a little less angular and a little more rounded...

This has been my result too. The clear was fine, but the color wasn't.
