New Boro Studio
I had an idea about 10 years ago of a glassblowing studio and I have obsessed over it since. After a lot of hard work I am glad to announce that I have opened up a professional grade glassblowing studio and gallery with my business partner and we have benches available for rent. I'm trying to fill the space with experienced talent, but don't know where to find it. Our building is in the inland empire(CA) and if anyone has any leads, tips, or advice, I can use all the help I can get.

Welcome to LE and Congratulations! The first thing you will want to do on here is add your location to your profile so it shows up on all of your posts.
If you haven't, yet, create a user over on the TalkGlass forums. The people there are heavy Boro artists and I do see posts there now and then of people looking for a place to do their lampwork art.
Do you have any pictures of your new place?

Maybe you may not be able to get "experienced talent" right away but maybe you could consider getting people close to you interested in glasswork...Either advertise and give classes yourself or bring someone in to give a few classes to people. If you do not have people doing glasswork where you live then educate/train those around you. You may find that there are people interested in glasswork but have no way of educating themselves on it. (that is my situation at the moment "not having anyone close by to train me"). Once they are trained then they will possibly use/rent space till they get their own shop. Congrats on making a shop/studio.. (send pics of it)... If there is no market for what you have... then create the market... you created something great so now make it work and create a glass community around it... good luck and Blessed Be

Try posting notices on college campus bulletin boards, or forums.
Community colleges too.
Maybe even some senior centers.
Craigs list perhaps?

My studio is always available for you! Of course it would be one on one instruction but I am good with that. I would be willing to provide room and board on my beautiful 5 acres in the forest.

I'm good teaching one person or 10 people. We can make it happen.

Do you have a web site? I get a LOT of emails about classes through my web site. Probably 2 or 3 a week. Not all of them turn into actual classes, of course. But if one a month does, then it's worth it. I also get a lot of people asking about renting shop time, which is something I don't offer.

I am so shocked to see the amount of activity this post has had in under 24 hours and I would like to thank everyone for their interest, advice and opinions. I will soon post Pics in the studio section and repost in this category. We will soon be teaching classes once we have installed our training table, this is about a month off but we are interested in talking to anyone interested, in taking or teaching them.

Hello Chad - I'm the Manager of a glass studio in Frederick, MD called The Glass Resort. Let's start talking about teaching a class. Contact me at info@theglassresort.com and give me some ideas, your class fee, and dates. I took my first ever boro class from you many years ago in Rockville. Would be happy to work with you. Congrats G&G on the new studio - I wish you much success! Use social media - facebook, instagram, twitter. Absolutely get an account on Talk Glass. Any bead shows, glass shows, galleries, craft shows, flea markets, etc. get a flyer or your cards in them. Don't forget the local newspapers.

How do I take pics and upload them within the resolution cap? I've tried emailing them on %25 of original image and it is still to big.

Since I couldn't find a way around it, I uploaded a few pics to photobucket.
Tell me what you guys think!

The trick to the resolution cap is to use the "Go Advanced" button then use the 'Paper Clip' "Attachments".
That will open up a Manage Attachments window and you can use that to upload files from your computer.
When it uploads them it will set sixe limits and tie them into your post but you won't see them there unless you click on "preview post".
I think you need to write something as well even if it is only two letters long so the images have a paragraph to be attached to.
