There is a very nice NW Indian Art museum and gallery on the opposite side of the highway (US101) from the casino about a half mile east (follow the signs). It's run by the tribe and is quite good. I've visited it half a dozen times; if you're lucky you might even meet one of the artists like I did.
There are also several very good fishing locations alone that stretch of hwy but you'al probably aren't interested in those

I made my reservations months ago to ensure I got in on the great, great lunch Mikey provides... reserve early! I think I will bring my little trailer this year and party hardy with everyone. Ruth has said she might be there; hope she doesn't change her mind.

PS - What's for lunch this year...Mex maybe??
No...we are eating Italian Food!

Sorry it took me so long to find out about the Colonial House in Shelton. So, here's the deal. They don't rent rooms to overnighters. They only rent it out if you are having a party or a meeting etc. So,the other thing I can suggest is camping spots in the area, but then you can camp at Franz and be right there! Of course if you don't mind the drive, you could stay in Olympia, about 30 minutes from Franz.

The Super 8 is less, but not that nice of a hotel. Alderbrook is a great resort, but it cost more than the casino.

Camping is fun, and I even allow guests to grab a sofa or a cot and sleep in a building surrounded by 200,000 pounds of glass. I am positive there is always rooms in Olympia which is about 30 minutes away

We could just stay up all night and karaokee!

Thank You

Mike Frantz

Well, will have one porta toilet outside. We have three in our building and I probably will spend the night in my building, once I have taken a nice long show at my sister's house about five minutes away.

And while I am up, you can flush

I don't mind the porta-potties. We ride/race dirt bikes and that's about all the have at there tracks. Ya just gotta learn to bend with your knees and try not touching anything! heehee After racing for 12 years, ya get pretty good at "hovering"! Looking forward to meeting everyone......We'll be the ones, camping in the tent, next to the warehouse with ALL the glass. It's probably a good thing that Mike's sleeping in the warehouse....... I just might want to sneak in and sleep on the warehouse floor, amongst all the purty glass!! This will be my "Field of Dreams" !!

Mike... will there be a way I can blow up my air mattress? It's the kind you plug into a wall socket and blows up my itself. smiles ~ hugs ~ Sandy :0)

As far as Frantz is concerned, if you are camping in the big field across the street from Frantz, you can show up Friday and need to leave Sunday. If you are setting up camp behind our second building, you can come whenever and leave whenever, the only thing is that no permanent residence can be set up.

OK........... whats the reviews on the Shelton Inn? Was thinkin.....after driving a gazillion miles to get there, I really owe it to myself and my sweetie to be able to sleep in a bed and take a shower. Plus, we'll be up there from Friday to Sunday and that's A LONG TIME to go without showering, ya know.

We can always "pretend" I have a tent there at night, share some veeno, play some music and sing but gotta have that bed and shower afterwards.

OMG..... this is going to be sooooo much fun!!

A short time ago they redid the outside of the Motel and I hope they cleaned up the inside. Other than staying at Alderbrook Inn (10 minutes further away) and at least twice the price (if not more) it is you best choice when the Casino is filled up (which it is). I will be sleeping in my office on Friday night (after going home and taking my own shower).

This BASH will be fun and the weather will be great!

OMG Lara......... that is soooo gross. FLEAS? In our travels to various race tracks up and down California, we stayed at a Best Western near Turlock, CA and, I kid you not, there were several "little curly hairs" (if ya know what I mean) on the counter and sink, in the bathroom area. I've seen some pretty nasty stuff in some of the hotel/motels out here, so I'm not surprized about the flea thing. I'm really hoping that the Shelton Inn has cleaned up there act, since that's probably where we will be staying. I don't mind camping out but I really need to shower daily. But....... I'll do whatever it takes to make it up for this Bash this year!!

Default Do Not Free the Fleas

I can be pretty sure that the Motels in Shelton are FLEA FREE, but has anybody ever had to live with a terrible flea infestation? When I was living in Signal Hill California in the early 1980's, the flea population was the worst ever seen. I remember one night sleeping in the bathtub, trying to be flea free, but it was hopeless.

I have a long history of flea's in my life. I remember when I was a little boy and I was at the Pike (amusement park) in Long Beach and there was a sign outside a trailer that said "Flea Circus' and since I was "Flea Circus Curious", I paid fifty cents and was sitting at this table and the man hands me a magnifier and when I put it up to my eye right over this little tiny object, I can see what appears to me a very tiny merry-go-round. And I see that it is turning round and round and upon closer examination I see half a dozen little fleas. At first one thinks that these little pesky beasts of burden are causing the merry-go-round to turn, but I could see that there was a drive shaft that went through the table. There must have been a tiny watch motor making the merry-go-round go around. Upon closer look at these fleas I see that they have not voluntarily climbed aboard the merry-go-round to amuse me, nor are they strapped in for safety. I see that there is some form of goo holding their body to the merry-go-round and they are not happy....they are freaking out and all of their little flea feet are in motion as I assume they are screaming "Get me out of here" like a hamster on an exercise wheel. This was not a Flee Circus, this was flea torture.

But have you ever realized that it is almost impossible to torture a flea? Let alone impossible to kill a flea! I remember the first time I caught a flea with my fingers. I was rubbing the belly of the beast (a blind collie named Lucky) when there was this little dark thing sucking on my dogs belly! I lined up my two fingers and apprehended the beastly flea and was going to do away with him. I rolled him in my fingers like a booger and after a few moments assumed that I would flick this dismembered flea into the carpet, but as soon as I let my fingers relax this little flea just leaped three feet in the air and I swear I could hear him laughing in my face. Ok, I thought, I must have not done it "long and hard enough", (I think I have heard that before), so back to Lucky's Belly and found another one and this time I now have the flea under my finger and pressed very hard on the table and began to roll, squish and press the flea so hard that nothing could survive, but to my amazement, upon lifting my finger from the table I got the same three foot leap and a sarcastic laugh from the flea as it flee or fled.

Determined to find a way to kill a flea I decided to use the Finger Nail of Death and use my finger nail to cut the flea in half. So back to the belly of Lucky, captured another flea between my fingers and pressed it on the table and then line up my nail with the flea. The problem is that my nail is very thin and the flea is very thin and in the process of trying to line up my finger nail and the flea, the flea fled once again.

The idea now came to me that I should just capture the flea and retain it between my fingers, jump into the car and drive a few miles and release it in the woods. The idea sounded like it would work, but how would I drive my car with one hand while the other hand kept the flea in captivity. And what if a police officer saw me driving with one hand and in the other hand caught me talking to this flea? They might pull me over saying I was talking on my cell phone while driving a car and I would get a violation and a $124.00 fine.

Drowning, I think I now have it! So I get a bowl of water, capture the flea between my fingers and then hold the flea underwater. But I had no idea how long a flea could hold its breath, and soon found out it could hold its breath longer than I was willing to hold the flea under the water and then I soon found out that by holding the flea tightly between my fingers, the water could not get to the flea and drowning would not work. So I have this flea between my fingers and release the flea at the bottom of the bowl. The bowl is only six inches deep, and looking at the ratio of the size of the flea and six inches deep in water, that would be like releasing a person at the bottom of a 400 feet deep lake, and there would be no way the flea could survive, but two seconds after letting the flea free it was on the surface of the water, the flea then did the butterfly stroke til it reached the side of the bowl, climbed up the bowl, and laughed in my face as it jumped back on to the dog.

The other day I was driving down the road and I saw a sign that said "FLEA MARKET". WTF! Why would anybody want to buy a flea? And if you could find somebody dumb enough to buy a flea....how much money could it be worth?

But that gives me a good idea, perhaps I can glue some flea ass to a merry-go-round and charge people to watch tortured fleas at my own flea circus.

Other signs along the highway seem to confuse me as well. I saw two signs, one said "Yard Sale" and one said "Garage Sale" Since my truck is too small to hold either a yard or a garage, I kept on driving.

Have a nice Sunday

Mikey...

Thank you for this... fleas have been the bane of my existence (I'm allergic) and, after reading this post, I am still ROTFLMAO.

If you ever figure out a way to eradicate the little f*ckers.. count me in!

I chuckled... you have to get the little boogers between the fingernails... they POP. It's a bit of a scoot, slide and roll maneuver to get them up on one nail and then you have to be ready with the other nail... while they are trying to get to their feet, you go in ninja-like with the other thumb nail and get 'em...

When we first moved to Lacey, WA back in 1980 the townhouse we rented was infested with fleas and we had 3 huskies. You could literally see the fleas jumping up off the carpeting.

Bungee has never had a flea. (touch wood) I don't know why. There is all manner of wildlife out here with the deer and raccoons, birds and coyotes. Surely there much be fleas here somewhere, but Bungee has never had one and he's 2 1/2 now. I've never put any kind of flea protection on him. He's outside all the time. I don't mean we keep him outside, he's an indoor dog. He's sleeping on the bed right now. He just gets a lot of outdoor time.

Maybe he has some sort of natural repellent or something. Maybe it's because he smells like cookies.

I hate fleas.

When you are picking fleas off your dog keep a cup of soapy water and put them in there. They can't combat the surface tension and they can't jump out.

Old time remedy the ole southern coon dog hunters used...

Eucalyptus buttons; throw'em in the dog house, bedding area, under your furniture, etc. Something in the oils that drive the fleas away.... and they don't smell too bad either.
