Cool Laser Goggles

I am new to this art of bead making and need a little information. A friend gave me a pair of Uvex laser goggles that are a light blue. Will these work for a Hot Head torch on 104 coe glass? Any information I get will be helpful.
Thanks
Royboy

One sure could give them a try. But they sound like a wrong filter wavelength for lampworking purposes. To remove the sodium flair a special filter is needed to remove the orange from the flame in order to see the bead. Using a pair of didy glasses or a didy shield is the correct answer.

For boro work, a welders shade 3 or 5 is recommended to cut UV and IR wavelengths.

Thanks for the info. Just want someone's opinion before I tried them. Didn't want to damage my eyes.

Thanks

I would try them... it will not damage your eyes. As long as you are wearing safety goggles of some kind, the worst case scenario with a Hot Head is that they won't filter the soda flare and that makes it hard to see your bead.

Laser safety glasses are usually wavelength specific for Argon (green/blue) and various other common lasers (red/IR/UV). I'm not aware of any that would filter out sodium flare because there aren't many yellow lasers. They should be marked as to what they are for. They might give you mechanical protection, but that's about it. Try 'em.

Thanks, You are right I checked and they are for red lasers. Guess I will find a pair on Didymium.
