Default Blue Exotic

I'm curious, what's the story with this stuff? I have a lb. of odds and never use them. I think I tried it once in beads and it looked just like the green. Anything I should love or hate, or know about?

It's pretty similar to Blue Moon, but it seems to stay more blue when encased.

Use it as a base bead, and then just roll it in clear frit.
Yummy!

cook it with neutral to oxy, when you're done, blast it with reduction - should give metallic shimmer

I guess it depends on what your making. But i haven't really used it in years so it's probably been reformulated since then. Might have to give it a try again. I bought some green exotic powder a couple years ago. Just got done using it a couple days ago. That stuff is badass. On the surface the metals that come out are awesome.

Yup! Yup! Yup!

Here's another -

1) Make a clear base bead (this helps save money too - clear is CHEEEEEP!!!
2) cover it with Blue Exotic. Work in a neutral to hot flame.
3) put dots of clear on and melt in
4) like big C says, hit it with a reduction flame till the surface becomes like a mirror.
5) put that bad boy into the kiln.

You should get a silvery bead with deep blue and aqua dots. GORGEOUS!

I encased a bead and before it went in the kiln it was the MOST gorgeous color of blue I've ever seen. It came out of the kiln olive green.

LOL, well as compared to poop green (that I often get) I'd say yes. Although it went in the trash.

Rose,

I feel your pain. My rule of thumb is if I love it hot I probably won't later and if it's questionable going in the kiln then I get some good surprises in the am.

Many thanks to Karen Hardy for her tips on working this color! I didn't know quite what to do with it either......then I followed her tip and made this heart. I was so excited at how it turned out I have to post it! Thanks again Karen!

First side

Side 2

You can't see it very well in the photos but there is a wonderful golden/green shimmer under the clear!
