Goldstone chunks
Who sells big goldstone chunks? Like 1/2 your thumb big. All I could find was a pound from Frantz. Does anyone know if they're big or someplace else to look maybe? Thanks!

Try going to the following websites:
http://www.greatslabs.com/slabs_goldstone2.shtml
http://www.greatrough.com/rough_goldstone_red.shtml
They sell goldstone for really cheap by the slab or chunk. If you buy it by the slab, you can just knock off a chunk whenever you need it.

I thought I read somewhere that there was a pink goldstone also. Was I just hallucinating or is that true? I see both of these sites only have red, blue, and green.

the "red" is actually pretty brown. The green last time I ordered it was NOT compatable with moretti or vetro. it blew apart quite impressively. may be a different batch but do you really want a few pounds sitting around if it isn't?

Dianna, Arrow Springs sells large chunks of Gold Cranberry Pink. It's listed under the Aventurine section. in the catalog. Maybe that's what you're thinking of. I have a large chunk but haven't yet used it.

I was also told that the green is not compatible with soft glass. I do have some and I can tell you that it is VERY difficult to pull into stringer. It comes out lumpy, like there's lumps of something in it that won't melt all silky like glass should. It is very hokey stuff. The longest stringer I've seen of the green was about 2 inches, and it was pretty wonky.
Pretty though, if you can use it.

YUP thats about the how it goes, if you get it VERY hot it'll pull a bit longer, still be wonky and encaseing it doesn't work. <shrug> cuts nice however. if you plan on cutting it I say go for it- its lovely. if you want an aventurine to torch with I'd say look else where.
