Question Help Needed ASAP on Oxygen Concentrator!

I found a Perfecto Invacare 5 lpm for $375.00 brand new in the box. I have a Bobcat from GTT on order to use it with. Does anyone have one of these or any feedback the could provide me before I buy this. Also is there anything I should check before buying it? It was listed on craigslist so I am always a bit sceptical when buying items from there. Thanks for you help!

Hi Tabatha,

I'm not sure what to tell you to look for, but the price isn't really screaming "great deal", to me at least. I know that most of the units sold for lampwork use are used / reconditioned and 'modified', so not brand new. But if I'm reading this thread correctly, part of that modification is to optimize the flow for use with a torch. I'm not sure what noticeable difference there may be with an 'unmodified' unit, but just wanted to mention this for your consideration.

Also, looking at OxyDocs current pricing, you could get 2 "M5" units or 1 "M15" unit for about the same price as that Craigslist unit. (Shipping would be extra though...)

A single 5 lpm unit is only $200 plus shipping from him. (I'd be sure to ask about delivery time though, as there seems to be some delays indicated in that first thread I posted.) Depending on how soon your Bobcat will be delivered, the wait on the oxycon may not be a big deal.

Also, consider what the warranty might be on the Craigslist item.... not sure how long ago it was purchased, etc.

Just some food for thought!

Very good advice Lisa. I bought my two oxycons from a man who services them for a medical products provider and he reconditions the used ones and tunes them for lampworkers. They have a guarantee and only run $150 delivered to a glass shop locally. When we order one from him it only takes 4-5 days to get it.

I guess I still dont understand what the "modified" means for lampworking. Im looking at it form the stand point that the other units are used and the one I found in brand new and never been used. The ones I have found have 40,000 hours on them for $150.00 and I still have top pay shipping of $65.00 or so. Im not understanding something clearly?????
