Fossil-ish Beads....How?
I've seen so many pretty beads that are all organic and have swirls of ripples on one side, with murrini on the other. I'm sorry I can't describe it better! If you know what I mean, can you tell me how to make it?

Hi Alexis,
Anouk has a tutorial on the first bead - she calls it an Armadillo Bead. Here's a link to her etsy page: http://www.etsy.com/listing/43164507...s-working-with
Cheers
Kathy

And Michael Barley has a tutorial for the effect on the other bead. It's also in the "tutorials to purchase" section. How lucky you are to find tutorials for both of the beads you really like!!

I can NOT do the armadillo one. I am armadillo challenged. It ends up looking like a huge glob. And the strips of color don't show up much. Garrr! It's not the tut, it's ME! Let me know how the tut works for you.

You should also buy the Sherry Bellamy's shipwreck tutorial. That will give you lots more ideas of beads in that style.
Patti I'm with you. I can't do the armadillo either. I think it's the glass that doesn't agree with me, not the technique.

Dang, that IS fortunate... to actually find tutorials by skilled lampworkers for the exact technique you're after.

I bought the aramadillo and it's an excellent tut, but so far I'm still working on it. I want to grab the Baleen one next.

Hey guys, I'm sure if you're having difficulties with Anouk's tutorial, she'd be happy to give you some help! And, btw, Margaret Zinser wrote a tutorial/article on that same type of bead several years ago, if you read hers maybe that would help too!
HTH,
Lea
