Default opaque bead base liner colors??

I have been having some trouble with beads cracking along the mandrel line. Someone here kindly explained that the glass touching the mandrel was cooling too quickly, as apparently some are wont to do, and that I should line the mandrel with a clear underlay first. This did indeed fix the problem (I love this board!) but I am looking for an opaque/preferably dark option to achieve the same thing. TAG's Blackjack works like a charm, but is so expensive and it seems a shame to use it for this purpose when it doesn't get seen..... Any knowledge of what dark solid colors "like" to be next to the mandrel and that play well with other colors?? Thanks!

NS ninja (blue based black) has always been buttery and very reliable.

GA Black Violet would be my first choice. As a black it can go clear if pulled thin, but in this application I think it would work perfectly. Pretty much any cobalt should work fine as well.
