Time to buy glass! Recommendations?
Glass shopping time for me, yay! I do small sculptural work and would like to add some new colors... can anyone recommend some colors that are easy to work and not boily?
It's the viscosity that's of particular importance to me, generally the lower the better. Borostix white and uber blush are wonderful and Aquamarine sparkle works great for me, too. Colors that are very stiff are hardest for me to work. WYSIWYGs are ideal, but I can do some silver glasses as long as they don't reduce.

I'm not sure there's an obvious answer to your question. Clear boro has the lowest viscosity, I think. Opaque WYSIWYGs tend to be stiff and boil easily. Transparent WYSIWYGs are less stiff, though I think cobalt, which is both transparent and WYSIWYG, tends to be stiff. I'm not sure what you mean by wanting silver glasses that don't reduce; whether something reduces or not is dependent on the flame, not the glass.

No probably nothing obvious, I just notice when working different colors that some are lower viscosity and tend to be a lot easier for me to work with my birds. Just wondering if anyone else had come across colors like the Aquamarine Sparkle that tend to be nice to sculpt with. If not, no worries.
I do work silver glasses, but mention reducing b/c I work with 2 oxycons, so my flame tends to be a bit reducing no matter how much oxy I give it.

I worked on nothing but an oxycon for a long time, I would find colors that look good reduced, ie. ice blue gets a nice red out of it, multi turns to a nice orange, you can selectively case it to keep or slowly strike the original base color
the reducing atmosphere of a oxycon flame is great for silver fume as well

Thanks, Justin! My main goal is to find colors with nice (lower) viscosity for sculpting. I don't really use frits, tho. The non-reducing was just kind of an after thought.
