Default What can clear frit do to the other colors??

I ordered some Simax rods, along with borostix white, a rod of star white, and a rod of silver strike 5, and I have a frit assortment from a frit swap. I have lot of colors here, plus a bag of fine grain clear.

What can I do with the clear? I know that with soft glass, clear frit doesn't do much over colors except be "clear frit", but what kind of things can I expect with boro clear frit over boro colors?

Short answer...you add depth and if you are using any striking colors it's a great way to achieve amazing color combinations! Clear frit should be a staple in any boro artist's cabinet.

Work the bead (or whatever) in an oxy flame, roll in clear frit, melt frit in, and then just before you're done, give it a shot of a reducing flame. The color protected by the clear frit will not change; the rest will turn whatever color a reducing flame will give it.

FYI, it helps to know what happens with an oxy flame and a reducing flame. Some colors are great both ways, but some (IMHO) get kind of ugly when reduced.

Just as an example, this is a base of Neptune Sparkle with Purple Luster frit, then a layer of clear frit...

Sorry about the bad photo...

That's beautiful! So the clear leaves windows for the magic to happen. I like this!
