Default One more question

Does anyone have any ideas to share on how to make buttons, either the kind with a shank or the kind with holes? Again, you great people out there, I'd appreciate your help.

Arrow Springs sells a button mandrel that Heather Trimlett uses (two hole buttons). Its pretty cool. Although I haven't made anything with it lately, its pretty easy to use.

Cheers

You can also use a mandrel...make a small spacer as the shank and the hole to stitch thru.....build a gather of glass on the top....shape...adorn....do what ever....a button is born!

Default Another way that is easy.

I was shown to make a bead and heat it soupy. Then let the soupy glass droop down leaving just a small amount of glass for the shank on the mandrel. Push the soupy glass flat on your graphite paddle. Decorate the flattened glass and you have a button with a built in shank with very little effort. Peg M
