Default LE Tutorials Book - Price increase as of 10/28

I just got an email from Lulu.com that, due to the economy, as of October 28th they will be increasing their prices.
So if you were waiting for the right time to buy the Lampwork Etc. Tutorials Book, now's the time to jump in and get it while it's still at the low price
of $13.83.

Since we've been selling this at cost, I need to make it clear that - after they
raise the prices, I have no control over the price. It's print-on-demand, so
if you miss the boat, I can't "sell you one at the old price".

These are a GREAT deal, with tons of tutorials, and tips, plus a coupon section in the back. They make GREAT prizes for raffles, stocking stuffers for the holidays and general gifts for your favorite lampworking friends. With single tutorials going for over $20 EACH, here's your chance to buy 16 (SIXTEEN) tutorials beautifully bound (with spiral binding so it lies flat when you are torching!).

So, time to get off the pot and get yours ordered today!
Here's the quick link:

Default Got It!

I got my book yesterday. It's very professionally done and it was packaged so safely and securely. I was impressed. Good job! I'm glad to have this in my growing library of "How To" books.

If I get enough requests I might consider another one.

I just ordered it. Cutting it close but I just found this thread. Ok, slight edit. I was planning on buying it but I think I'm going to have to wait. The price is awesome but the shipping is killing me. They can't mail it out regular USPS? First it gave me an option for that and then it disappeared and would only allow it to go UPS which cost as much as the book itself.

While I agree with you (shipping sucks!) the total price for the
item (including outrageous shipping) would still be less that buying
1 (one!) PDF tutorial that you wouldn't even get a hardcopy of.
Not trying to twist your arm - just putting it into perspective.
It's still a great deal on MULTIPLE PRINTED tutorials.
Even at $40, it would be a great deal.

I was going to buy it too, but the shipping is too much. Seems like the pdf tutorials are $18-$20, so I don't follow.

Still an awesome deal but I'm wicked short on cash right now. I can justify $15 but it's not fair to my husband to tell him he can't spend money and then I spend $25. Ya know?

Anyone know how high the price is going to go when it goes up?

Cost of book through lulu: $13.83
Cost of shipping UPS Ground $10.22
Total $ 23.22

Cost of one PDF tutorial $20
Cost to have it spiral bound and printed in full page color $50 (I called and confirmed with Kinkos)
Total $70

...and comparing apples to apples
Cost of 10 tutorials $200
Cost to have it printed and bound at Kinkos $50
Total $250

Having something that Karen put together with all the fine and wonderful
artists on LE......

Priceless....

I got this e-mail from lulu:

I am sorry to have to tell you that although we do offer Media Mail, there is a problem with the USPS links to here. But we have been informed that everything should be back to normal today sometime ( October 23 ).

Thank you

I'm sure that the tutorial is worth it, the shipping is just too high, but it sounds like it's a glitch in their system.

Stupid lulu .

I just bought a copy to ship to another lampworker,
and my total came to about $18.
That's probably around where it will be when this is
fixed.

Oh sweet! I'll try again tomorrow. I know it sounds silly to be concerned with $10 or so but every penny counts right now. Even with the higher shipping it's still worth it but like I said, it just wouldn't be fair to my hubby.

Here's how I "justify" it.
If you screw around with the glass, you'll probably go through
a few pounds of it and have nothing good to show for it.

However, if you buy the book and follow the tutorials, then you
1) won't be wasting glass
2) won't be wasting precious time
3) might actually have something to use or sell at the end (meaning that the
book will pay for itself very quickly).

Plus, there's coupons in the back, so you save even MORE money.

Such a deal.

I just got off of live chat with Lulu. They said to check back in a couple of hours. So I'll just go on doing the work my boss is paying me to do for a couple more hours.

The shipping seems to be working right now. I had the option of UPS Media mail or Priority.

Yeah, I'm NOT the person to talk to if you're looking for someone
to talk you OUT of spending money on anything "glassy".

Just ordered a copy myself and can confirm that the USPS shipping (3.95) is working.

Thanks for the heads up on the price increase.
