Question What shape is your torch mount marver?

Is it a flat or l-shape? What do you like about your torch mount marver?

Have you used both, and if so, what would you consider the pros and cons of each shape?

Mine's flat with a metal piece on the back. I've used both.

Pros and Cons - with the L marvel, you can roll beads in the "corner" for shaping. With the flat marker, if there's a metal plate that sticks up on the back, you can use it to chill connections that you want to snap apart. I found I didn't use the L for it's intended purpose, missed having the metal and couldn't see over the top of the back of the L very well, so I went back to the other type. Totally a matter of preference.

The marver I use primarily is flat but I also have and use a trough kind of marver on a handle from Arrow Springs that has a "V" trough and end caps with one end at a 90 degree angle and the other canted off at 60 degrees with slots down both for a mandrel to fit through. Very handy.

I have a rounded L shape marver. I find that it gets used to hold my murrini more than anything else. I use my 2x3 handheld marver for shaping more often than not.

I should add that I don't actually use my torch mounted marver for marvering. I use it to fix bead ends and to hold things (mostly the bottoms of brass presses, because I like to use them up high where I can see what I'm doing better). My favorite marver for marvering is my big brass Trey Cornette marvering plate.
