Default Digital scale - what kind to look for?

I'm interested in purchasing a digital scale.. they are listed in 200g, 300gm, 500 gm and 1000gm capacity.

I'm not sure what this means... Of anyone has some input or a model they like, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I also see some with parts mode count, which sounds really cool.

Thank you

It kind of depends on what you want to weigh and how accurately. 1000g is 2.205 pounds, the rest is easy enough to sort out. As a personal preference, I don't like to use a big scale to weigh tiny things.

I bought a "pocket" gram scale a few months ago. It's the size of a pocket calculator or a bit bigger than a credit card. I think it cost me under $30. If you're interested, I'll dig out the receipt and provide the web site.

Most electronic scales will either weigh in grams (kilograms) or ounces ( pounds).. you can toggle between weight type...

Parts count is if the weigh of one part is know (by scales), you can dump a handful of parts (all same type) on scales it will read out how many parts on scales. Great for some types of inventory keeping.

Bed Bath & Beyond had some out on display a few weeks ago, think I weighed everything in kitchen dept....

Steph also somthing to consider is the MINIMUM weight it can weight too on those small ammounts of crystal and silver it really does make a pretty big difference. I got a lil 200 gram scale on ebay that would weigh down to a fairly small fraction of a gram. I used this to weigh silver and crystals when I was doing the bulk buys.

that's great feedback Karin. Thank you.

I was just wondering, if a 200 gm scale meets your needs? If you were to buy another would you get a 500 or 1000?

What kind of measurement will tell you the minimum weight?

Thanks everyone for your input I really appreciate it!!

ok heres an example this scale will weight doen to 1/10th of a gram which is pretty good you can do easily small silver pieces and crystals you still will be off a lil but this is probally as close as you will find
http://cgi.ebay.com/DIGITAL-250x0-1g...QQcmdZViewItem

but here is another scale
this one looks even better looks like it will go down to 1/100th of a gram!
but it could be a typo because he has similar models up that are to .1 of a gram and they look the same.
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-TOUCHSCREEN-...QQcmdZViewItem

Most of the ones im finding that are jewelry scales are to within .1 of a gram. The postal scales are not as accurate so be careful with those.

this one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ULTRA-55-SCALES-...QQcmdZViewItem
its accurate within 1/10th of an oz but an OZ is alot more than a gram so youd totally lose out on product with that one.

As long as we are talking about scales, I have a question as well. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced postal scale. I am going to sell off my bullseye so I need something that can handle up to a maximum of 5-8 lbs so I can figure out how much to charge.

Thanks,

Eric

I thought this one looked useful, since it has a tube holder which would be great for glass rods
