Can anyone tell me the best 96 or 104 transparent purple to match an amethyst stone?

Have you already tried Effetre light or dark violet? 591041 and 591039 I think.

I find all of the Reichenbach transparents to look too dark alone as a small bead. Maybe over clear?

Yes they are very saturated in color and may appear dark. Layer over clear or white to get the correct shade--beautiful hues!

In 104 range you can play with CIM Saphire on top of CIM Cranberry.

This bead is not perfect at all, but I like how sapphire plays with cranberry and shifts the color to the purple side.

If anyone has the old Vetro dark transparent purple, it was perfect assuming you mean a good quality amethyst.
