Fuming Metals
What is the difference with fuming with foil vs. wire vs. casting grains? Knowing that gold and silver naturally produce different fuming colors, does fuming with one metal form over another produce a different effect or not?
Thanks
Candace

Once the metal is vaporized it doesn't matter what the source was. Foil will generally give you less fume than wire or grain but it really depends on the mass of the metal your are using to start with. Wire and grain will generally be a larger mass of metal than foil.

If the different forms of metal have different types or amounts of impurities then the result will definitely be different. Otherwise the same.

I'm assuming that you're planning to use pure metals and not alloys. Alloys change the story entirely.

Yes you can. More importantly though is do you want to? Do some basic research on its toxicity.

Thanks, Larry, I have a good ventilation system. I may try it.
Any hints?

Nope. I have seen the result but have never done it myself. I am very concerned by what I read about copper fumes. Mastering Gold and Silver will probably keep me busy for many years to come.

"Prepare to die" seems to be the general consensus.
