Bail Biters vs Handy Andy
Fror making holes in glass when doing off-mandrel work. Which is better and why? And the question pertains to soft glass, not boro. I have become addicted to the hearts in the June Soda Lime Times and want to make sure I am using the best tool for the job.
Thank you

Both work. Bail biters are modified needle nosed pliers. Handy Andy's are Tungsten. In theory (and probably in practice, as well), HAs would be better because it's a lot easier to pierce glass with tungsten than steel. The bail biters take some practice.
I use bail biters because I made them myself and they only cost me $1.99. I have a tungsten poker to use, if needed.

Make you own by using your torch with an inexpensive pair of needle nose style pliers. Heat to cherry red and bend as needed.

I have the Handy Andy version and love it, but can't offer any critique about the Bail Biters because I've never used them.
The HA makes it so easy to create a consistent, even hole in soft glass, which is primarily what I'm using at the moment. It's easy to grip and doesn't stick to hot glass because of the tungsten.
