Gummy Bear Press?
I seem remember a gummy bear press being produced but I can't seem to find it now. Is it just my imagination? Does anybody know where I can find one? Thank you.

I was thinking it was Bavarian beads, but I don't see it there anywhere.

I know right?!?! I looked at Zooziies, Bavarian Beads, and Catwalk-and even searched the forum-but no luck. I saw this gummy bear chandelier and thought that press would be pretty awesome to make it for myself in glass.

I tried my best German for a search, and could not find any either. There are several German lampworkers who make them. However, they do not appear to use a press, but start with a small cilinder bead and add dots for the legs, arms, ears, etc. They look pretty real, and it seems not too hard to make them that way.

Thank you for the suggestion Floorkasp. I suppose you are correct about just making them from a tube bead-they aren't terribly complex. I still wonder what happened to the press though.

Freeze some, tap them into some sand, carefully pull them out, and push glass into the cavity. Voila.

Here you go. Though you can get fine mesh plaster and silica cheaper from ceramics supply places. Wear a N100 respirator when mixing.

I make my gummies freehand. But I have an issue getting their poor little ears too big at times. I would love a mold!

Cherri,
Just do a search for glass mold mix or silicon mold mix on the internet. I have even used Premo Clay to make a mold of something. There are also books on the process at Amazon.

I think you can make a bear pretty easily freehand. Just make a big oval for the body. Add a round on top of it for the head. Shape the face part into a cone. Add 2 blobs or swipes on the bottom for the legs and another 2 blobs on the body for arms. Then tiny bits of glass for ears.
Walla!

Ask www.perlenpresse.de over here in Germany (change language with the UK flag on top of the page). They make customized presses. And as there are bulk buys going on in the garage section as soon as the press is online you can order in a bulk buy
