Oh, would any one be interested in a buy on TIG rod? I can usually get a pretty decent price on rods to cut down. Let me know if you would be interested, what quantity you would want, what size, and what length.

5/64 would be cool, other than that all I need is 3-4 dozen 3/16....I could buy more of those is need to meet minimums though if the price is good.

Yumm I need some now - I'm addicted. LOL

I need some 5/64th mandrels too. I can't find it anywhere at any of the local welding shops. I've got a whole tube of 1/16ths. I love this size. I don't bend mandrels so much. And they work in presses really well.

I will check on the 5/64, hopefully tomorrow. I like 3/32-any interest in that size also?

That's the size between a 1/16 and 3/32-both of those are pretty common sizes...now that I know that, I will check into it for myself.

If your efforts are anything like mine...trying to make smaller beads only results in bigger ones.

Venessa!

I am small-bead challenged.

5/64" is my favorite size! It is sturdy but not too fat. I got tired of 1/16" bending so much. Though I still use 1/16" for presses. But I'll use 5/64" with presses in a pinch.

I'm all stocked up though! What I need is 1/4" for Pandora/Biagi beads. I think I only have 2. That size is probably too hard to make by hand, though--I read that you need a saw to cut them.

Hey, where are we on the room assignments? I'm getting antsy! I just don't want to end up on the smoking side. Even though there isn't supposed to be smoking in the condos, they sure smelled smoky last year. My last year's roommate didn't sign up...boohoo...she has a wedding to go to.

thanks Patti - I think once I get through this week I'll give you a ring... k?

And if your bothered by the smoke - I might add for everyone -- pick a condo on the lower level - smoke rises and then you'd be below it...

I don't know -- maybe I'm just woefully oblivious but i don't remember there being smokey issues...

OK, as far as rod, 1/16 and 3/32 are readily available. 5/64 not so much. I can order it in, but there is a minimum quantity, and cost is about $29/lb.

Hmmm, it might be cheaper to get them here:

http://www.sundanceglass.com/glass-bead-tools-r.htm

This is where I have been getting my mandrels for a while now. It's $32 for 2 lbs. Used to be $25 but everything has been going up. Sigh.

2 lbs. is a LOT of mandrels!

Now that's not a bad deal for 2 lbs of mandrels.

I agree! I think I am gonna order some!! If anyone is interested in going in with me, let me know-there is a $50 min order, and all I am looking for is mandrels, so I will probably order 4 lbs.

All right, I've started a spreadsheet on google to keep track of everything. Let me know if you would like to change anything.
Here it is: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...SN4ol5ag&hl=en
I can order other sizes if any one wants them, just let me know. Also, I need to know if you want your mandrels sent to you now, or if you want to wait till the retreat.
(I cross posted on the Bead Retreat Group)

Ack, I just noticed that the $32/2 lbs. price says that the ends are not ground. If you want the ends ground it is $38 for 2 lbs. I didn't notice that because they didn't used to charge extra for that. I always did think they weren't charging enough, so I guess they came to their senses.

I don't suppose it would be too hard to remove the burr, but I wanted to make sure you all knew about it!

Can someone, anyone, tell me if my two e-mails came through last night regarding the lap grinding buy and the silver buy? I have not received either of them, myself, and it's making me nuts -- but I can see them listed in the Messages section of the Yahoo group.

And, after that's done -- can someone make it May and remove any possibility of snow tomorrow, please.

I didn't get any emails on this subject, so I chimed in over the MOBR forum.
