ventilation covers? Louvers?
I hope to be installing the new fan and in-take air ducting this weekend. Is it ok to use the louvered vents for the exhaust air? So that it would be "closed" when not in use? Or would that add too much "obstruction" to the air flow? I'm a little confused on what to use on the outside of my building for these ducts.
Regarding the hole for the in-take air, I was going to use a roofing vent that sticks out a few inches, but I also saw some screen covered vents (I think used on the eaves) that would be flat against the building. Would either of those be ok?
(Exhaust going out is through 8" duct, in-take air coming in through 10" duct)
thanks-
Ana

Probably nothing wrong with any louvers or screens, just keep in mind they will reduce air flow by some percentage and if they become collectors of cobwebs, dust, dirt and what ever it will further reduce air flow..... Would be good idea to check and run a vacuum across them for time to time...

It's impossible to find anyone that carries this stuff, it all has to be ordered. The big box stores around here only carry up to eight inches, and even that is pushing it. No one has the louvered vents. I tried calling HVAC places to see if I could purchase 10 inch ducting, but I haven't found one yet that carries stock that they would sell.

I have a louvered cover on mine. I'm not sure where my contractor got it, but maybe Grainger where he got the fan?

I use this setup. It didn't have any screen to keep out the critters so I added some behind the louvers when I installed it. Works great.
