Default non reactive ivory

You all were so helpful to me with my Kalypso issues that I'm back with another question:

I love Val Cox's Royal Ballet frit against the tonality of Effetre's Dark Ivory, but the ivory is really too reactive.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a COE 104 glass that looks like Effetre's Dark Ivory - with the same warm tonality - but that is less reactive to what I suspect is Rubino Oro in the frit?

Please limit recommendations to glass that is still available. I already have a broken heart about the number of beautiful glasses that I love but can no longer lay my hands on.

Thanks in advance for all your help.
Stefanie

You can encase the ivory in clear before applying frit.

You can also use clear enamel from Thompson's.

Thanks all. I'll try all 3 alternatives tomorrow morning, as I am hoping to get a few hours of uninterrupted torch time in.

Effetre Wood is Ivory that does not react like Ivory. It is reactive, but not the same way Ivory is reactive. It won't turn black with silver or copper-based colours. This colour makes a pretty nice base for frit.

If not, let me know and I will send you some short rods to try to see if it is a colour that will work for you. I can send a few short pieces pretty inexpensively in a padded envelope.

Frantz does not seem to carry this colour yet. It's colour 286 (591286) and I got mine from Howaco, but I have also seen it for sale at Artistry in Glass. Some vendors are calling it Wood, and others are calling it Legnos (untranslated from the Italian colour name). I am pretty sure it's also available from Ed Hoy's, but their website is not working today.

Melanie,
I'm guessing that Wood is different than Sandlewood, right?
I'll track some down and give it a try.
Thanks again.

I like CiM Stone Ground, but it's a bit darker than dark ivory & more a shade of the Sandalwood.

Vetrofond Cream ... pretty cheap and works great. Slightly paler than dark ivory can be but it's great with frits.

I've had good experience using Vetrofond's ELO with Val Cox frits.

The problem with Vetrofond is that it's no longer being made. Once current stock is gone, it's gone.

(Sorry, no color suggestions. I was going to say encase in clear.)
