Cherry blossoms! And there are some great places for glass in the Metro area-- The Workhouse in Lorton, Va is an old prison converted to an arts facility. About 8 or nine resident glass artists, plus an equal number of artists in the ceramics facility, etc. About 20 miles south of DC, app. 4 miles of 95, right near Occoquan. Vitrum Studio is in Beltsville, Md, and Weisser Stained Glass (much more than stained glass!), in Kensington, Md. Also a glass facility/studio at Glen Echo Park, Md. Old Town Alexandria is a great place for walking/sightseeing and the Torpedo Factory, another arts facility is there, right on the Potomac. That's in addition to what DC has to offer!

Ther are a lot of museums worth looking at.
Nps.gov for some of the more obscure spots.

Folger.edu Shakespeare theater and history
National geographic rotating displays just off the mall
National cathedral gothic arcatecture and ironwork as well as some nice gardens
Sometimes the embassies are open for displays and cultural stuff.

Congress, senate, White House, most of the alphabet agencies.
A lot of them offer tours it just takes time to make arrangements.

If your intrested in research library of congress and a few obscure collections like the DAR house are worth scheduleing.
