Default Implosion/Petal Beads ??? BORO???

Has any one made these in Boro? I am having no luck. I am wondering if it because the glass flows so much different and slower.
I love these and would really love some tips and trick or better a tutorial in Boro.

There is a link in the Free Tutorial section of LE.
How to Make the Implosion/Petal Beads

Can anyone help ?

I seem to recall doing it once, but it is a lot tougher.

I think I'll try this but I bet you're right. The technique seems to depend on the glass really moving from side to side and boro just doesn't like to move. I wonder if it's at all possible to use a marver to help it spread out.

It should actually work better. In soft glass, the clear is stiffer than the colors. In borosilicate the clear is softer than the colors, so it should implode more easily. Just need to get enough heat into it.

Default Looks like a tutorial opportunity for you.

Would love to do this in boro, and would be happy to purchase the tutorial.
Take a look at the tutorial for soft glass under free tutorials. No pictures, I work allmost exclusivly in boro only and understand the colors a bit better. I've only had one small class in 104, I am anxious to learn these.

Lend some help to the Boro fanatics.

Thanks
Sue

I read Jcanoe's Implosion/Petal bead tutorial - if that's what you're after it seems pretty straightforward, if not really an implosion as I think of them. More of layered dots that smear when encased...Which is an awesome technique too

You can try THIS type of implosion too:
http://www.lampworketc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4608
I think of those as a disc-bead implosion.
Here's a pic of my first attempt (in soft glass) In all honesty, I did it wrong. I was thinking along the lines of a maria implosion kept it level while I "heated the tread" - but the results were cool despite being different

While this is a very good maria-style implosion/compression tutorial.

I have been doing the implosians for several months. In fact my glass work started with off mandrel and Boro. I started beads in late Jan/Feb after taking Nacy Toby's Boro Bead class in Corning. I love the look of the petal beads, but am having no luck.
Thank is why I would love a picture tutorial doing these in Boro.

This is an example of a first attempt using Simax and NS. The bead is 17.46 mm in OD with a 3/32 inch mandrel hole.

A bead that is round rather than donut shaped would be more appealing.
