I am trying to come up with an "eye of sauron" pendant. This one isn't quite there yet, but I am getting closer. The Dichro shows much better in person and has more of they eye effect.

Default Nubbins, disks and Organic Cubes

Love these colors and they are such a joy to make
... and the shapes are fun too.

The round ones are pretty generic but I love the colors...

Eric, that's awesome! You need to get together with Lana to see what she came up with for the flame pendant she was working on. Get a little collab going on

That is "Precious" Eric. How do you know where to cut it open? Do you slice it and then polish, or just grind it away until you have enough of an opening?
I saw some lapped pendants at the Gathering bead show, but they were not shiny on the surface that had been ground. Would it be possible to put it back in the kiln, heat it way up and then flame polish after you lap it?
OH, and how do you do a "quote" with the picture included?

I try and keep track of where the design is as I am making it, and I put the loop on so I know where the front and back is. Then I just start grinding. All, that being said, I lose about 40% in the grinding process. Not because they break, but because the design just doesn't look good or is off angle. It is really easy to lose your orientation as you are making the piece or end up shaping it and getting the design off kilter. So, while the piece might look great from a side angle, head on it is just blah. You can have too little interior design, too much design, a layer of bad frit that just won't polish, etc. The pieces are very labor intensive to make. You can flame polish later, but I don't like the look as much. I like the clean angles that you get with lapidary work.

great thread, I have only just started to look at Boro after 28 years of soft glass, I'm having a lot of fun learning what all the colours do, here are a couple of little bits, the dicro marble is 40m diam and the heart owes a lot to Brent.cheers, Bernard
