Default Sharing a Bulk Tank?

I would like to get one more hothead for my studio. Is it possible to use one bulk tank for two torches?

Thanks~

Don't know..... Never tried it....

You can get connectors that will allow it.... With such a small volume of gas torch actually consumes I think its possible, only thing may be when one user changes torch setting in may effect other one.... BUT I don't think it would be serious...

I wondered about this too. Since the tank releases at full tank pressure, wouldn't it be equal going to the torch through both hoses?? Provided that connection V's off well enough to allow positive gas flow?? I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Maybe Sarah from the Hothead site (Cindy Jenkins??) would know about that one. I swear there is a way to hook up more than one Hothead and they do this in teaching studios.

This is done all the time with camp stoves and propane lamps in camping scenarios.... Do not see why it would not work for torchs...

Try it.. Be a trail blazer... Let us know!

At the glass shop in Sydney, they hook up 8 hot heads to one tank. Then, with a couple of changes of hoses, minor torches can be used.

Hope this helps.

For 2, you just need to add a Y splitter. I have the type with knobs so that you can turn one off and still work with the other.

They had 2 torches connected to one tank at the place I took my class. So it can be done!

Dale makes a good point about the possible surging/dropping. I wonder if you could put a high pressure regulator on the tank (and set it to a high pressure) and run a splitter after that. Did anyone ever decide what was an acceptable pressure for the HotHead? I know that it is designed to run on "tank pressure," (and tank pressure fluctuates, anyway) but, can't it be run on slightly less pressure without problems? Hmmm.

Try it with just the splitter and let us know how it goes.

It runs fine with just the splitter. I've run 4 HHs off 1 tank with no problems (usually just 2 torches) and Arrow Springs sells manifolds for multitorch setups. I don't use a regulator.

There has been some mention of a few people using high pressure regulators with success.. They would probably have to operate up in the 50-70psi range..

Thanks for all the good info!

Except now I don't get to be the trail blazer since it's already been blazed.

Yes!
I have 2 friends who come to torch with me and they use 1 talk and the Y adapter. No splitter for them either and it works just fine.

I get to keep their tank here so if I ever run out I'm not really out! lol
