Default Seeded Tube? What is that?

Island Glass has an "Effetre Seeded Tube Assortment" for sale and I have no idea what that is...

Thanks very much~

It's Effetre glass that isn't really intended for flameworking, but it works great:
http://blackswampglassworks.com/seeded.htm

It was made to be cut into bead-lengths and strung to make beaded curtains.

It can be pretty shocky, so preheat in a pure fuel flame, then slowly add in your O2. Any carbon deposit will be burned off when you do that.

You can encase it in any of the Effetre transparents, which really gives you a broad palette. Also, it's great for blowing vessels and for making hollow beads.

It's very cool stuff. I can remember a time when suppliers couldn't give it away. LOL! But I've always loved it. Well, for the past five years, anyway. In fact, as far as I know, I was the one who started referring to it as seeded glass. It reminded me of the seeded glass so prevalent in my favorite style of architecture, Mission Style.

It's really nice to see it finally being embraced by the community.

I figured out how to make seeded glass rods that aren't shocky.

I posted a thread about it about 4 mos ago.

I noticed that you get bubbles from scratched glass. So I tried intentionally scratching rods with very coarse sand paper, the black kind you can use with water.

It worked. Bubbles galore.

Try one of those sanding sponges. Wear gloves because little tiny pieces of glass are coming off the rods. Do it wet.

The scratchier the more bubbles.

I made this heart from moretti pink.

Thanks Kevan...I think that is what I'll do with the occasional rod that has a thin line of air the entire length of the rod. Since I have to pick that bubble off every 1/4 cm I'd rather scatch up the whole rod and have lots of bubbles.
Great tip and cheaper than the seeded glass!

It works especially well on glass that tends to bubble anyway. It works great on Moretti clear. lol
