My Boro Recipe Book
Hi Everybody,
As some of you may know, I am no longer making beads. I am now practicing homeopathy. I have a boro recipe book that represents an enormous amount of hours of experimenting with colors and techniques. I don't know what to do with it now that I am not making beads. Let it sit on my shelf as a fond memory? Auction it off on ebay? If I had more time and could make samples of all the beads and photograph them, I would publish a book but I don't have the time. What do you think? I wish someone else would take on the task for me! This is one of the recipes.

but serioiusly... I think even without pics for all the beads, I would buy a list of recipes and notes on them, you would just get more money if it had lots of pics

OK - thinking about this - I think I am too much of a control freak about design to let someone else make a book for me. So - If I want to do it, I am going to have to do it myself. Maybe I have enough pictures - there could be some recipes without photos...
If you think there really is interest I will have to figure out how you make an e-book. Anybody ahve any good links to places that describe how to do this?
Thanks for your help. Really gotta think about this...

A few years ago I bought 2 boro barrel bead recipe books with excellent recipes and excellent photos. I've made hundreds of beads from those recipes. Not one of my beads came out looking quite like the pictures!! Yes, I'll buy a recipe book without pictures.

You might talk to joni about the way she did her tool tutorial e-manual thingy or to ron bearer about how he did his Implosion marble tutorial e.book.
My thought is you just do a PDF of the final form and email it to people who PayPal or otherwise send you money. EasyPeasy!

I have a program that I can use that will convert to pdf so I think I am good to go. And I still have an Etsty acct. so I can put it on there when it is done. Off to work... I don't know this program well so have to figure it out (Serif PagePlus).

I did my tutorials in microsoft word, then used a free PDF maker. its not that difficult.

Another way to distribute your content is to go the 'self publishing' route. Many of these firms also take care of shipping. The advantage is that a PDF can be easily distributed. While a hard copy book less so.
And for my working style, a paper copy is more preferable than a PDF which requires multiple trips to the computer or quantities of printer ink on my dime.
Some possible publishing firms: Lulu, Blurb, Create Space, Amazon, Kindle Books.

This has inspired me to start my own book. I have a bunch of stuff that I made a few months ago that I can't remember what it is made of. I am just getting back in and I want to have a more production attitude than I did. I am really looking forward to the recipes I will collect.

Alaska - I know that the quality of my photos is OK for viewing on the web as they were taken for etsy and my website but not for publishing to paper so I think I will have to stick to an e-book. I understand the appeal of a hard copy book - I prefer that too but for now, an e-book is do-able for me.
